For librophiliacs
January 1, 2011
For all you librophiliacs out there, Apple have a new game for iPad/iPod or iPhone called ’Shelved’.
The idea is to put books back in their correct places on the shelves, either by alphabet, Dewey or Library of Congress classification. I must admit that I have not invested 59p to test the game.
I hear all you library staff say ‘but we do so much more than just put books on shelves’, but unfortunately that’s all the game does. So it would be interesting to compile a complete list of the sort of things that our library staff actually do to help our customers, including some of the more unusual or weird requests.
Start the list in the comments box below.

I had a customer last week, came in to ask if I could help him with his xbox game. He had managed to ‘Kill the Zombie’ and needed help in ‘killing the mother and son’ with the lasso!!! Could I tell him what he needed to do to achieve this and thus take him onto the next level of his game!!!!! Not your usual sort of day to day request!!!!
